I recommend any traveler to stay away from border towns like Tijuana and visit Mexican resorts to the far south instead.

@rusty1491 Border towns are having some tough times recently. I think it's better to see the other parts of Mexico too because it also changes your perception that Mexico is just one big border city. I like the southern tropics and beaches are real nice on the carribean side. Its cool that Americans can just visit a totally different culture and enviroment thats not far or expensive but even then we all need to use our common sense when traveling.

@britainfan4lyf dont. tijuana is a big city but not a good tourist destination. there are way better and SAFER destinations throughout mexico...in fact tijuana is one of the most dangerous.

The violence in TJ is over-rated. People don't mess with you unless you're a big time player. They don't have time for small fries. I was there for 3 months, saw people walk at night like nothing, kids, men, women all ages. The only way you get shot is if you're a rival drug dealer. I don't remember reading about many innocent people getting shot or killed. Who would want to be a vago in a place packed with cops and soldiers? I seen more gangsters in my small town in the US than I did in TJ.

@BushidothePhenom true that, the only thing you really hav to be careful tho is to not get kidnapped ad get hold for ransom, theyll do that, but it mostly happens more down south in mexico, usually never in the border towns.
